An additional pair of the adjustable UV protection glasses that ship with Dermfix narrowband UVB lamps. One pair is included with every Dermfix 1000MX and Dermfix 2000SX; this listing covers a second pair or a replacement.
No session with a 311nm lamp should begin until the eyes are covered. Ultraviolet light at this wavelength gives no warning — no glare, no heat on the eye, nothing that registers while it is happening — so the discipline has to come from the routine rather than from sensation. Put the glasses on first. Take them off last.
The arms adjust, so a single pair accommodates a range of head sizes rather than being fixed to one.
There are three common reasons to hold a spare. More than one person in a household is using the same lamp, and each wants their own. A pair has been lost, sat on, or had a lens scratched. Or the lamp travels, and a second pair stays permanently in the bag so a session is never missed for want of eyewear.
Eyewear is a consumable in practice. Check the lenses periodically for deep scratches, crazing or cracks, and replace a damaged pair rather than continuing with it.

Questions
Do I need to buy these if I have just bought a lamp?
No. A pair comes with the lamp. This listing exists for households sharing a device, for replacements, and for anyone who wants a spare set to hand.
Can I just close my eyes instead?
No. Closed eyelids are not adequate protection against ultraviolet at treatment intensity. The glasses must be worn for the duration of every session.
When should a pair be replaced?
When the lenses are cracked, crazed or scratched enough to affect the surface, or when the frame no longer holds them in position against the face. There is no fixed interval; inspect them as part of your routine.
What is the difference between these and the goggles?
These are spectacle-framed with adjustable arms. The goggles are held by a strap and seal around the eye socket, which suits smaller faces and treatment close to the eyes. Both give UV protection.
